The Laundromat

Sitting ‘round the corner Laundromat
That’s the place I do my laundry at
For an hour I make certain that
My clothes are clean, and I am gone

Screaming children running
Here, and there
Using languages from everywhere
Young lovers coupling without a care
When my loads finished I am gone

In just an hour I am gone

Then, one day, came in, to my surprise
A lovely lady, with dark green eyes
Asking for help, and would I oblige
I couldn’t help myself, but nod

Her wash started, we began to chat
Of her country far from where we sat
A land of beauty, where her heart’s at
As in a daydream, I was gone

I closed my eyes, and I was gone

For many weeks, then, we’d sit and chat
While doing clothes at the Laundromat
My heart she’d stolen, as quick as that

We plan to travel to her land of birth
Most lovely garden,
You could find on Earth
Where we’ll have children
But, we’ll marry first
A few more days, and it’s “so long”

Roller coaster rides

Magical sunrise
Everyday springs
Beauty at midnight
Wondrous queens

Knights dressed in armor
Horses in sway
Ladies in waiting
In wait for their claim

Castles of diamonds
Rivers of gold
Forests of emeralds
We’re never told

Fire spumed dragons
Abound everywhere
Winged graceful horses
Filling the air
Off in sleeps whisper
And shadows unclear
The singing of small folk
You just faintly hear

On to adventures
For honor, and fame
Rescue young maidens
Winning the game

These things may pass
 And, no longer be
Grown-ups lose sight
But, children can see
